Convention Talk: Kupo Con Prep

So, I’ve been accepted to Kupo Con in Montreal in April 2020! This is my first convention since AnimeNEXT 2016, it’s been a very long time. I’m excited to do this one in particular since I wanted to sell at a Kupo Con since the first one they had in Newark, NJ a couple years ago. With that being said, it HAS been a long time since I’ve sold at a convention and with that comes with thinking about what I’m selling, how I’m doing it what I need to update.

First things first, I had to really mull over the subject matter. Of course I have a lot of Final Fantasy merchandise/items/art. But I realized I could make a lot more and make variants as well, other games for instance that are JRPGs or related to Square Enix. Chrono Trigger, Bravely Default, SMRPG etc. games like this.

I also thought about adding on an additional set of products to sell. I mainly sell pinback buttons, they’re pretty easy to handle and make for that matter and aren’t a financial sink. But since I plan to go to more conventions in the years to come it might be worth investing in something new now.

Stickers!

I used to sell stickers a long time ago at Smash tournaments. Of course I discontinued doing this, the art needed major rework and I wound up becoming more involved in organizing events at the time. But, here we are in 2019… so I’ve been thinking of reinvesting some time in to some sticker sheets. I have a lot of cute ideas for sheets, and I wouldn’t be making anymore than 3 or 4 types of sheets (if even that). I just need to find a place to get them done which… I believe I found but it comes all down to price right now.

On the other hand, I’ve made a large list of new button designs to make which will be fun, but I have a lot of work ahead of me.

I plan to blog about my progress and updates up until the actual event 😀 maybe it’ll come in handy for myself and others in some way!

Back to the grind

I know no one reads these things but I’m trying to think of ways to utilize this space some more, maybe get some more interest. First off, I’m done and graduated from school, yeah!! I have an exciting prospect coming up in the near future but for now I’ve been trying to give my personal art some traction. I may consider doing tutorials in this space from time to time or giving tips on art/files/emotes. I just have to think of a structure for now. I know I was using this space for a sort of “drawing” blog but for now that’s more or less pointless. I’ve taken to using Instagram to post my art nowadays and that’s been nice and I’d prefer it that way. So for now it’s just whatever comes to mind until I got something solid! I may use this to ramble for the short term so there may be more posts in the near future.

School!

For anyone wondering, I stopped doing personal art and commissions due to the start of school. The program/major I’m in is very intense and requires 100% of my time so there’s unfortunately no way for me to fit in commissions right now. However, I’m thinking maybe certain points I might reopen again for a limited time when I may have some more “free” time.

Since I’m doing art/design all day long it’s not like studying or doing papers where I’d gladly want to work on some art, this takes pretty much all of my creative energy and then some haha. I’d say keep an eye out if you really want to commission me. I feel bad having to turn down commissions but it’s just not feasible. I couldn’t see myself fully opening commissions until next summer or toward next summer (maybe around May).

In the meanwhile, I may post some sketches here on my blog and more likely on my twitter which is a social media that I’m always on even if I’m not posting.

Thanks all! :]

Terra

I’d love to color this one but I just doodled this one when I listening to the FF6 ending music. I love the ending entirely and of course the scene with Terra is really lovely.
